House Wines
The following selection of house wines has been chosen with consideration to ‘drinkability’ and a complement to our food.
Marques de Riscal have been producing Rioja since the 1850’s. Produced from the Indigenous Verdejo grape, the wine is fermented slowly at cool temperatures to extract the maximum freshness and flavour from the grape. The result is a wine deliciously refreshing yet spicy, with hints of tropical fruits and herbs with a dry zesty finish.
Our Chardonnay comes from the heart of Languedoc Roussillon near Carcassonne it is un-wooded and displays fresh fruit with a creamy intensity and an almost Burgundian finesse.
The Bon Courage Sauvignon from the heart of the beautiful Robertson Valley in South Africa is an elegant and refreshing Sauvignon with excellent balance between fruit and alcohol. The wine displays layers of flavour including limes gooseberries and tropical fruits.
The Chenin Blanc from Simonsig Estate Stellenbosch in South Africa. This white has been voted South Africa’s superquaffer of thee year for the last two years running. The wine displays exotic tropical fruit salad flavours with a mouthfilling palate and long fruity finish.
Chateau des Eyssards from France is a blend of Sauvignon and Semillon grapes. This wine shows freshness and elegance with lots of fruit, good weight and a long crisp finish.
The Merlot from Chile is very forward, with aromatic vanilla bean and berry fruit, plush
texture and sweet with smoky notes caressing the finish.
The Gran Hacienda Cabernet Sauvignon again from Chile is elegant and well balanced. Its fruity aroma is dominated by berries, cloves and vanilla whilst on the palate it delivers a fine concentration of flavour, suggesting juicy ripe fruit, plums earth notes and leather.
The Shiraz from Adelaide Plains, South Australia (Sydney Top 100 & Double Gold) Fabulous intense rich ripe fruit. Plum Fruits on the nose. Coffee and Chocolate with peppery Shiraz taste matured in fine-grained oak a stunning red for game, red meat, cheese and full flavoured dishes.

We do not offer a house champagne but would strongly recommend the brilliant wine from Champagne Deutz, one of the finest ‘hidden gems’ of the region. Recognised as a wine drinker’s champagne, the style is elegant with real class.

Sparkling Wines
11. Kaapse Vonkel 2005, Simonsig Estate, South Africa
Made in the Champagne method from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier
grapes, Kaapse Vonkel (which literally means ‘ Cape Sparkle’) Is classic sparkling wine.
Very fresh, with hints of warm bread and roasted almonds on the palate, with a creamy,
persistent mousse and deliciously refreshing, citrus finish.
12. Pinot Noir Chardonnay Brut NV-Cuvee Ceravolo South Australia
Smooth and Creamy Australian sparkling wine is made from the traditional
Champagne grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Bottle fermented to enhance luscious
fruit flavours with crisp bubbles and an elegant dry finish. The closest thing to champagne
from the New World.

13. Sauvignon Blanc, Hugues de Beauvignac, 2008
This Sauvignon is fresh and vibrant, delivering all the gooseberry and citrus
flavours you would expect.
14. Picpoul de Pinet, Hugues de Beauvignac, 2008
This fine example of what the Southern French can produce. Crisp, clean
and fruity, the Picpoul is charming and wonderful with seafood.
14a Pouilly Fume , Domaine Henri Bourgeois 2007/8
Produced from vines grown on the chalky-clay hills of St Andelain, this Pouilly
Fume exhibits an aromatic, floral and slightly smokey style, with wonderful concentration
and length on the palate. Ideal with shellfish, fish and goats cheese.
15. Sancerre, Le Chêne, Lucien Crochet, Upper Loire, France, 2006
Outstanding, upper Loire Sauvignon Blanc. Lucien Crochet excels in this region.
16. Chablis, Domaine le Verger, Domaine Geoffroy, 2006/07
Classic Chablis from a small, family grower, showing wonderful purity of fruit,
intense concentration, with characteristic minerality and a very long finish.
17. Gewurztraminer, Hugel et Fils, Riquewirh, Alsace, France, 2006
Hugel are the champions at producing Gewurtztraminer and this wine is a classic
example. Intense perfumed nose of rose petals,lychees and a touch of spice,
With an oily texture. Everything you would expect. A wonderfully powerful wine.

This wine is showing all the complexity of aged white Burgundy
at a fifth of the cost – wonderfully complex and mature.
21. Sancerre le MD de Bourgeois 2007, Domaine Henri Bourgeois
Loire Valley winemaker of the year 2006 ( Fleurus Wine Guide ),Henri Bourgeois
is well known for the quality and authenticity of his wines.The MD ( Mont Dames) is
produced from very old vines on Kimmeridgian soil and shows remarkable intensity and
vibrancy of fruit, with lifted gooseberry and citrus flavours and an incredibly long finish.
A must with seafood.

Refined well-balanced and deceptively complex, dry wine.
24. Collio, Pinot Grigio, Marco Felluga, Friuli, Italy, 2008
Outstanding Pinot Grigio, delightful peach/lemon fruit aromas, rich, dry palate. Perfect with seafood.
25. Cervaro, Castello della Sala, Marchesi Antinori, 2006/07
Without doubt, one of the finest Chardonnays outside of Burgundy.
It has to be said this benefits from approximately 20% Grechetto in the
blend. Beautifully refined, balanced with delicious opulence, a Tuscan gem.

28. Chenin Blanc, Springfontein, South Africa 2007/2008
This wine has a lovely rich elegance with lots of fruit good weight and along crisp
finish. aroma of apricots and pear drops. Creamy and spicy on the palate with huge depth.
29. Viognier Reserva Casa Silva Chile, 2007
From Vina Casa Silva own grapes in the Colchagua Valley floral aromas with apricot
and custard apple on the nose. Expansive in flavour with fresh and pleasant sweetness on
the palate, balanced acidity and an excellent and harmonious finish.
30. Buiten Blanc, Buitenverwachting, Constantia, South Africa, 2007/08
An enticingly fruity blend of Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc, this is a fresh, crisp
and very nicely balanced white from the Buitenverwachting winery in Constantia.
31. Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc. South Africa 2007/08
Clear, lively green apple hues. A tropical nose packed with guava, ripe green
Fig, granadilla, lychees, gooseberry and a hint of green pepper yet still maintaining a
complex character of nettle and freshly cut grass. The mouth filling fruit is supported
by crisp acid for the distinctive palate.

A classic Marlborough Sauvignon with wonderful concentration of fruit
intensity. We didn’t think we needed another New Zealand Sauvignon, then we tasted
Burnt Spur.
34. Riesling, Gibraltar Rock, Porongurups, Western Australia 2004
The vines for this wine are situated underneath the granitic monolith that the
Aborigines call “Elephant Rock”. With the cool nights and a north facing slope it
Provides ideal conditions for growing super premium Riesling. The wine is
typically pale green, straw coloured with a nose of lime, grapefruit, musk and spice.
The wine is fresh and juicy on the palate.
35. Chardonnay, Buitenverwachting, Constantia, South Africa, 20085
One of the best chardonnays that this venerable estate has produced, nice
toasty aromas, delicious fruit.
36. Eroica Riesling, Chateau Ste Michelle, Washington State, USA, 2008
Exciting collaboration between Ch Ste Michelle and Mosel’s renowned Dr Ernst Loosen.
The Eroica stands head and shoulders above the recent surge of Rieslings.Every vintage
earns a spot on the Wine Spectator Top 100 List. A unique combination of tangerine,
grapefruit and pear aromas characteristic of Washington state Riesling, melded with the
slate and spice notes and lively acidity associated with German Riesling.
37. Pinot Gris, Matakana, North Island, New Zealand, 2007
Full bodied and powerful Pinot Gris from this brilliant estate situated
to the north of Auckland
38. Three Stones Riesling, Hawkes Bay New Zealand 2007
This Riesling is delicate and expressive, with aromas of green apples and crushed
limes. It has an attractive fruity finish with honeycomb nuances.
39. Chardonnay Hamilton Russell Vineyard, South Africa 2007
A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity.
A stand-out core of intense grapefruit and pear aromas. Hamilton Russell Chardonnay
rated as South Africa’s best and one of the top 20 in the world.
40. Cloudy Bay Sauvignon, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2007
Undoubtedly New Zealand's most famous wine, this is fantastic Sauvignon,
bursting with gooseberry, passion fruit, and lime flavours.
41. Chardonnay, Cloudy Bay , Wairau Valley, New Zealand 2005
We have managed to prise some of this powerfully commanding toasty, grapefruit
peach-laden wine. The wine has excellent weight and structure.
42. Amity Dry Gewurztraminer Willamette Valley, Oregon USA 2005
Full intense, Spicey Gewurztraminer that emphasises how exciting this grape can
feel from another cool climate other than Alsace. Floral nose with hints of Pineapple and
Lychees with a lengthy concentrated finish.
Rosé Wine…
43. Scalabrone Bolgheri Rosato, Guado Al Tasso, Italy, 2006
The vineyard (and subsequent wine) was named after a bandit named "Scalabrone"
who was native to this area in the early 1800s. The wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Syrah, while classified as a rosé, is quite unique with a particularly intense colour and bouquet.
Red Wines
French… Balanced, structured, elegant fruit
53. Corbières, Ch de Tersac, Languedoc, France, 2005/06
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, succulent black fruit, powerful weight,
stunning Corbières. An excellent wine, the ripe fruit and weight is delicious with game.

Delas Freres, Northern Rhône, France 2003
Excellent structure, a superb syrah from this much improved estate
55. Ch Montaiguillon, Montagne St Emilion, Bordeaux, France, 2005
Consistently, a fine estate making supple, merlot based wines with good fruit and soft tannins
56. Chateau De Pez, Saint Estephe France 2004
The 2004 vintage is a lovely solid colour and dark red almost purplish- blue highlights
The nose is packed with rich complex slightly jammy fruit plus aromas of roasting mocha
from maturation in wood. It is very fresh with floral spicy notes. On the palate the wine is crisp
fleshy attack followed by mouth filling but not overly hard tannins.

58. Fleurie, Domaine Pierre Farraud France 2007
From a well-respected family grower, this is deliciously succulent wine, Oozing
with ripe and juicy raspberry flavours, and showing smooth, silky mouth feel a great
all-round red, which can accompany red meats, poultry and even fish.
59. Gevrey Chambertin, Henri Perrot-Minot
Cotes de Nuits, Burgundy, France, 2004
Now recognised as one of the most talented young winemakers in the Côte de
Nuits, Christophe Perrot-Minot, son of Henri, is a serious man dedicated to decanting
stunners out of his unprepossessing cellar in Morey-St Denis. This is an attractive
fleshy wine, full of charm and finesse. Concentrated ripe berry fruits supported by smooth,
velvety tannins.
60. Chambolle Musigny, Vieilles Vignes, Henri Perrot-Minot, 2006/07
Côtes de Nuits, Burgundy, France
This Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes from a sensational Domaine is made
from 100-year-old vines, rich and ripe, with cassis and raspberries.

Domaine Alain Michelot, France 2004
A seductive glass of real Burgundian Pinot Noir. Summer fruits, cherries,
spices surrounded in a velvety structure.

Elegantly made Sangiovese and Tempranillo
62. Il Bruciato, Guado Al Tasso, Bolgheri, Italy, 2007
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon/30% Merlot/10% Syrah, this is the second
wine from Antinori's famous Guado al Tasso estate situated in DOC Bolgheri in Tuscany.
A modern-styled super-Tuscan, French-oaked red, both classy and delicious.
63. Peperino, Terruzi & Puthod, Tuscany, Italy, 2005/06
A baby Chianti that offers succulent spicy, fruit layered with light oak ageing,
a brilliant wine. Duck dishes are ideal with this, the spicy fruit and acidity balances the
duck’s rich textures and fattiness.
64. Villa Antinori Rosso,
Marchesi Antinori, Tuscany, Italy, 2005
Undoubtedly one of the most significant developments in modern Tuscany has
been the decision of Chianti specialists to opt out of the DOCG system to produce an IGT
wine sourced from fruit grown on Antinori’s outstanding sites in the region. Syrah and
Cabernet Sauvignon add to the 60% Sangiovese from the Chianti sites. A masterful wine,
modern yet sympathetic to regional typicity.
65. Finca Valpiedra, Reserva,
Bodegas Martinez Bujanda, Rioja, Spain, 2004
One of the few single vineyard Riojas produced, a Reserva that offers refinement
on a level unparalleled in the region. A fine glass with lamb or duck.
66. Tempranillo, Finca Antigua, La Mancha, Spain, 2007
Rich and succulent, up front fruit with well judged oak integration from this new project in La Mancha
67. Tenuta Guado al Tasso, Bolgheri, Italy, 2004
An absolutely stunning Tuscan wine from Marchesi Antinori. a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Syrah with breathtaking appeal and finesse.
68. Howard’s Folley, Portugal, 2005
Using local grapes such as Syrah Alicante and Touriga Nacional . David Baverstock
has produced a wine full of finesse and richness. Deep red with a rich plum edge a hint
of spice and peppery notes
New World…
A section rich in flavour, character and appeal
69. Reserva Merlot, Santa Rita, Maipo Valley, 2007, Chile
Abundantly fruity, oozing with ripe plum and blackberry fruit, and densely
concentrated. Subtle, toasty oak rounds off the flavours.
70. Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Earth, Adelaide Plains Australia 2006
Deep ruby and purple. Blackcurrant and mint aromas. Fresh and Vibrant…
just waiting to leap out of the bottle to show off its charms. A well integrated wine
matured in French and American Oak barrels for over a year, leaving behind a touch
of vanillin oak well married to soft tannins.
71. Shiraz, Lodge Hill, Jim Barry, Clare Valley, Australia, 2006/07
A new addition to Jim Barry’s great portfolio of Clare Valley Shiraz,
superb fruit with herbal/cinnamon aromas, opulent
72. Willow Bridge Estate Shiraz/Viognier, Ferguson Valley Western Australia 2004
Awarded 5 out of 5 stars in the James Halliday Australian Wine Companion,
Willow Bridge is a relatively new estate. The reserve Shiraz/Viognier is a
full bodied red with deeply concentrated flavours of mocha chocolate plums
and licquorice.
73. ‘Ona’ Pinot Noir, Casablanca Valley, Chille 2007
Voted the top Pinot Moir of Chile awards 2008, this is a very classy pinot from
Casablanca Valley. Pale in colour, the wine displays ripe cherry and strawberry fruits
on the nose and palate, is smooth in texture and well balanced, with a long, ripe,
toasty finish. Very versatile, this red can be enjoyed with red meat poultry and even fish
74. Shiraz, Kanu, Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2004
Exceptionally run estate making rich and well structured reds.
Toasty and chocolatey with a powerful, fleshy, plumy profile. Beef is perfect
with this superb wine.
75. Moko, Merlot/Cabernet, Matakana, North Island, New Zealand, 2006/07
A superb ‘Bordeaux blend’, seductive with immaculate balance with
underlying muscle and power
76. Cabernet/Shiraz Rusden Ripper Creek Barossa Valley Australia 2006
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz aged for 18 months in French Oak
This wine is a big, harmonious, dense purple coloured red displaying a sweet perfume of
Black and red fruits intermixed with incense cedar pepper and spice.
77. Rodney Strong Symmetry Alexander Valley California USA 2005
The spirit of Symmetry is truly the essence of Sanoma County. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It shows an opulent Bouquet of Blackberries,
ripe dark Plums and sweet spices. Layers of Blackberry, Cassis and Plum on the Palate
framed with accents of Dark Chocolate and Spice.
78. Penely Estate ‘Phoenix’ Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, Australia 2006
The name Penely comes from a combination of ‘Penfold’ and ‘Tolley’ the two
famous winemaking families of which the owner, Kym Tolley is a member. Situated in
the famous Coonawarra vineyard in South Australia, the vines benefit from the unique
Terra Rossa soil area. The wine shows a dominance of spicy, Cabernet fruit, with great
denseness and hints of smokey oak. Ripe but elegant, with great length of finish
79. Pinot Noir, Hamilton Russell Vineyards, South Africa, 2006
This highly rated Pinot Noir is not overtly fruity, but soft and sweet and it generally
shows alluring primal character along with a dark, spicy, complex primary fruit perfume.
80. Burnt Spur Pinot Noir, Martinborough, North Island, New Zealand,2004
A bench mark Kiwi Pinot that really asks questions of Burgundy.Bright red cherry
nose with hints of toast and the forest floor aromas lead to a clean supple palate with a
concentrated round ripe cherry core of fruit surrounded by fine grained tannins and
finishing with a long silky texture.

From the excellent Jordon estate, this is a very classy Riesling from a small
20 year old vineyard block. Produced from botrytis-affected grapes, the wine shows
Delicate floral aromas, with layers of complex flavours on the palate ranging from
apricot and peach to lime. The finish is long and luscious yet fresh.
95. Late Harvest Furmint, Domaine De Disznoko, Tokaji, Hungary 2004
Very fruity and floral on the nose with a soft round honeyed, sweetness
and delicious Citrus balance.
